Language learning should be intriguing, interactive and lively. It should not be confined to the classroom. Elements like public speaking, drama, debating and writing can only be fully comprehended with practical experience. The ultimate goal of language learning is to be able to interact with the audience in a creative, compelling and convincing manner.
The vision of EASE (English Ambassadors Speak English) is “Innovation. Inspiration. Imagination. Immense joy.” We believe English learning should be fun, fascinating and fantastic. Through organizing an array of thrilling activities to enrich the English learning environment, we have not only nurtured our leadership and communication skills, but also gained invaluable love and friendship and this is definitely the best place for you to learn!
“One, two, three, freeze!” big brothers and sisters from EASE became English teachers and taught primary six students how to form frozen pictures of different themes. The students acted as superheroes, princesses from Disneyland, athletes and even monsters and animals! Students learned to express themselves in a dramatic, energetic and lively way.
Some F.3 EASE members were in Guangdong Guangya High School for an exchange trip. One of the highlights was stopping by Ya! Café, which was a café solely run and managed by local students. We were appalled by the unparalleled quality and passion the students displayed - from making a coffee, stock taking, account management to customer service, the baristas took care of business just like a true entrepreneur. What a spellbinding experience!
We imbued the school campus with love, joy and passion on Lantern Festival by giving out themed-cookies through rousing English idiom games. The lovely smiles, energetic primary kids and whole ambiance were astonishing.
Led by our Principal, Ms Kuby CHAN, a team of aspiring baristas and entrepreneurs visited Halfway Café in Sheung Wan. We not only experienced first-hand how to run a café, from making a real coffee to studying the features of the utensils, we were also taken to an entrancing docent tour about the magnificent history of Hong Kong in Sheung Wan by the shop founder, Mr James CHEUNG. This cultural-cum-entrepreneurial expedition deeply inspired our students who are enthusiastic to run their own café.
Our annual school Homecoming Day was held on 12 November. Our EASE members played an important role in this event, running the EASE Café to offer drinks to our honorable guests which included over 1000 alumni from all over the world. In addition to drinks, the café also sold cookies emblazoned with the school logo. The money raised from the cafe was put towards our school development fund.
Here at Munsang we are committed to offering our students a wide range of exciting and innovative English activities. A new addition this year is the introduction of Le EASE Café. This has enabled students to learn how to set up and run a café and has highlighted the many different roles needed in such a venture. This activity has provided countless benefits including new ways of interacting, opportunities to practice English in an informal setting and fun for all.
A better name for the event should be Munsang Oscar as Munsangnites across different forms took turns showcasing their unique talents and dynamic abilities – some were dazzling fashion designers and top models, some were aspiring directors and actors, some hosted “Who wants to be a Millionaire”, while some were sensational lawyers. The whole program was based on a compelling drama about Le EASE Café and a group of dreamers who aspire to change the world. With such an exquisite blend of passionate presenters and powerful plot, English Activity Day 2018 was absolutely a blast!
22 students were involved in English Drama Fest and their brilliant performance and teamwork moved the audience tremendously. Kai Chris Hoffman of F.4B was able to bring home the Outstanding Performer award.
Shortlisted among thousands of candidates, Munsangnite Wong Chau Lam (F.3B) was one of the eight winners of the 4.23 World Book Day Creative Competition (Junior Secondary English Category) this year. His enticing work is displayed in the Hong Kong Public Library.
The team had to complete 4 trials in two days, fighting off competitive and well-experienced international and elite local schools. All our strenuous efforts paid off as we were not only able to refine our critical thinking and speaking skills, but also win one of the trials.
This mind-blowing gala which combines science, technology and creativity from various subjects and forms has definitely broadened my horizons. Take Mathematics Day as an example, Maths enthusiasts interacted with other Munsangnites through original origami artwork and thrilling kinetic models. Students were deeply magnetized by the magic and theory where numbers can be turned into practical games and designs. The weeklong campaign was a massive success as we all become competent, confident and creative self-directed learners who are capable of applying our knowledge across different platforms.
The 69th Hong Kong School Speech Festival was held this year and we take pride in our exceptional result as a total of 26 secured championship, first and second runner-up were clutched in a series of thrilling competitions including poetry reading, public speaking and dramatic duologues.
